About Me

Hey there!

I’m Brooke Reimer and I’m so happy you’re here.

I’m the mom of two precious twins, the wife of a newly graduated dentist, and a career woman turned full time mama. I love finding use out of everything, and re-connecting my family to health and nourishment through from-scratch cooking and home-gardened foods.

Here I share my recipes, tips and tricks for how to be resourceful in your home for the benefit of your family, health, and budget.

A few fun facts about me:

  • I’m an identical twin, who married the son of an identical twin, and then a month after being married in 2019, got pregnant with fraternal twins! You could definitely say twins run in the family.
  • I’ve always loved writing, I actually started my career as a journalist and worked briefly with The New York Times before moving on to my own freelance writing for multiple news agencies. I specialized in writing about renewable energy policy and sustainability, which is still a passion of mine!
  • My family is a true outdoors family – I grew up backpacking, hiking, running barefoot literally everywhere. Growing up in Southern California, I had a basic farm for a home with horses, dogs, chickens, goats, sheep….even 2 cows! Not what you’d think of as the typical California lifestyle, but we loved every minute of it.
  • I’m bilingual, I am fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) as well as English. I have an older sibling who is deaf and my parents actually taught me to sign before I could talk! My husband is trilingual, he knows ASL, English and Spanish fluently – maybe I’ll catch up to him one day. 🙂

Easy Garlic Naan Bread

One of my favorite things lately has been this whole wheat garlic naan bread with dinner. It takes just about any main dish to the next level, but particularly pairing this with curries, or with greek food and tzatziki sauce has been incredible. Naan bread is quite different from traditional bread in that it can…

Sweet & Spicy Asian Quinoa Bowls

As summer approaches and the temperatures start to rise, I start to crave a different kind of food. I want refreshing, lighter meals instead of comfort food – don’t we all? And mainly — I try to avoid turning on the oven as often for our dinner meals. There’s no better way to do that…
